May 2012: I’m Laura and in the past year I have learned more about myself than I thought possible! I got engaged, I graduated nursing school (BSN, RN), and I realized I’d given up on some dreams that were still important to me. So I decided I want to try to get into fitness modeling… I also realized how much dedication that takes, which meant some prioritizing. School and family/ fiancé come first to me which meant finding the balance to get in my work outs and start eating better. It’s been a slower process than I was hoping for but I’m working on it and I hope I can help motivate and learn from you as well!
Jan 2013 Update: Well, after looking into competitions and moving home until the wedding due to hubby deploying, it wasn’t the time to start spending our money on competitions. Now married and living in Okinawa, Japan we have a whole new set of adventures! I’m doing some training out here (also trying to get through the hoops to work at the hospital) and really focusing on a sustainable clean eating lifestyle. Trying to find the balance in diet, maintaining a 5 day gym schedule, and living as a married couple. My hope is that I’ll be able to get myself to a point that when I do decide to compete I’m only a couple months out from being ready.
Aug 2013: It’s hard to believe I’ve been blogging for over a year! So much has changed since I’ve started. I’m married, been to Japan and back, and am working in an ER here on the US east coast. Still trying to find the balance with fitness and nutrition since the rest of my life seems to be made up of constant changes (plus rehabbing an injury for the past year). Right now I’m working on forward progress and trying to enjoy the journey!
