Just about Fall

Even though it’s still been around 80 degrees here, the past three days have been rainy and gloomy. It makes me feel like, just maybe, fall really is getting close. Like seemingly most people, fall is my favorite season. I love the football, the colors, and the chill in the air. Plus, hubby tends to be home a little bit more which makes me so happy. While I believe there’s nothing like a Minnesota fall, I’m still looking forward to it out here on the east coast.

Yesterday I had physical therapy and I took my pups on a 2.5 mile walk… sometimes I forget how much harder it is to walk with both of them. To be fair, it’s basically walking with 210 pounds of resistance. My shins and back were definitely feeling the consequences this morning. Sore legs and back meant today was upper body day.

Here’s the workout:

2 sets:

  • 1 min. push-ups
  • 1 min. ball toss, sit ups

3 sets:

  • 12 hanging leg raises
  • 12 TRX rows

3 sets;

  • 1 min bicep curls
  • 1 min cable tricep push-downs

2 sets:

  • 12 tricep dips
  • 12 lat pull-downs

I finished with physical therapy exercises and stretches to try and get my back to calm down. Thank goodness for ibuprofen and heating pads.

Then I gave in to this fall feeling and bought my first pumpkin spice latte of the season… I bought it iced and turned it into my post-workout protein shake (added in 1/2 a frozen banana and a scoop of vanilla protein and blended it up). While it was tasty I’m really excited to try some of these healthier options for pumpkin recipes.

Those of you who have been following for some time probably know my not so secret addiction… coffee. I started drinking some version of sugar, cream and coffee as a little girl when I visited my grandparents which has since progressed to at least two cups a day, usually more. These days I don’t use any sugar but, heck, we even took wedding pictures at a favorite coffee shop and I don’t think anyone other than our photographer was surprised by the request.

And, like any good addict, anytime a new article comes out with benefits of coffee I hold to it like Maia (our Cane Corso) to her favorite squirrel toy. Today’s article even states it makes you a better athlete– I think most of us already knew it can boost a workout. For the win:

Wow, thank you to One Fit Mama and UberBeastMode for nominating me as an inspiring blogger! They are both so supportive and inspiring themselves that it means a lot to me! Although now I guess I’m not allowed to nominate them??

About Me… it might sound weird but, thinking of 7 things to share is really hard!

1. I’m obsessed with coffee. Way more money goes to Caribou than should, even when I’m being good and “only” going twice a week…

2. In honor of football season, I love college football but could care less about Pro… I will yell at the TV when Oklahoma isn’t playing well but just watch the pros when it’s a good game.

3. I’m afraid of big birds… they freak me out. And bees. Basically anything that can fly and attack me.

4. I love to cook, sometimes I’m too lazy to do it but I really truly like grocery shopping and cooking. I think it’s relaxing.

5. Most readers know this but, I’m getting married in a couple weeks to a wonderful US Marine.

6. I move around… a lot. I’ve lived in 7 states and I’m really excited to move around more and travel after the wedding. I love meeting new people and seeing the differences, even just in the U.S.

7. I hate long runs, I really just get bored. However, I love the 5k obstacle runs. Once my foot is fully healed I want to start running in more of those and, maybe, even take them seriously.
